Winner of best Christmas shop window announced!
A shop owner in Pokesdown has won the prize for best window display in the Boscombe area this Christmas period.
The competition, arranged by the Boscombe traders association, had a first prize of two tickets to see Martha Reeves and the Vandellas at the O2 academy in the precinct.
Zoe Larkins who runs the new ‘Love from Hetty and Dave’ shop in Christchurch road said about winning the prize: “Yes I am really pleased, I’ve only been open 2 months so I am really happy about that.”
Zoe, who was born in Bournemouth, designed the winning display of a giant squirrel wearing a red dress and white fur coat herself. She said she always makes an effort to have a nice window display because it draws people in. She also thought it would be perfect for Christmas.
The unusually named store sells a range of hand made goods and vintage clothing and the display was only put up a month ago.
Of the name the prize winner explained that she found an old photograph in a junk shop with the words to Mary and Bill love Hetty and Dave. She said she wanted them to live on in a brand name.
Zoe who says she has never won a prize before said of the Area: “I really love Pokesdown.”
The competition was started by Angus Reid the head of the Boscombe traders association. He nominated 17 shops in the Boscombe area for the Bournemouth  Chamber of Commerce’s competition but was turned down.
Then he decided to do his own.  He said: “It was quite good and it will be a lot more bigger and better next year.”
The winner was decided by Bournemouth Councillors Lisa Northover and Chris Wakefield.
